FABRIC HOOD MAINTENANCE & PROTECTION
The enjoyment and appearance of
driving a cabriolet can be spoilt by letting the roof become dirty and
water absorbent. Your roof can become water absorbent a lot faster if it
has been washed with inferior cleaning products, especially things like
washing up liquid. If you're not sure whether your soft-top needs to be
re-proofed, look for signs of small puddles or water spots after it's been
raining. If your roof is not beading water as it has in the past, your
protection has worn off. We normally use the Autoglym two part maintenance kit specifically
designed for soft tops, plus other methods depending on the type of
soiling we need to tackle.

REAR PLASTIC WINDOW DISCOLORATION REVERSAL

Most cabriolet plastic (Perspex) rear windows
look as though they have misted, clouded, hazed or fogged up. Washing and drying your vehicle will leave minute scratches on the plastic
window, which build up over a period of time. The sun also discolors it and sometimes gives the
plastic a light yellow tinge! In some cases, the window is so bad that the
driver cannot see the vehicle behind. This is obviously very dangerous.
It's also
unsightly, spoiling the look of your cabriolet. We have even heard of
people paying hundreds of pounds to replace the rear window because they were not
aware of this specialised restoration service. Our special grade of paste is applied
to both sides of the plastic window, about an inch at a time, then worked
in to leave the window sparkling and clear. This service produces an
impressive transformation to the overall look of your soft-top. We are sure you will
be amazed by the outstanding results.

The rear window we used in this project was very badly damaged and
posed a challenge to improve the vision. The left picture shows the
limited view through the back of the car, as clearly demonstrated by the
lack of detail visible on the three vehicles behind. The middle picture shows the
special window compound applied to most of the area. This would be worked
in thoroughly on both sides of the window then removed with a microfibre
cloth. The third picture
shows the results. The treatment has clearly provided a much better view through the
window, which will now be a lot safer for the driver, and has helped to
improve and maintain the overall look of the car.
